Bound is the Bewitching Lilith

Permanently Closed: This project is permanently closed to submissions. We provide the following information as an archive.

About

Several years ago, I wrote an offbeat story that depicts Lilith, the first wife of Adam, as a divorce attorney in Los Angeles. When researching Lilith mythology, I was struck by the storytelling potential there. I can envision a dark fantasy tale about a succubus, stories exploring Lilith’s demon aspect, Lilith as Jewish-Pagan poster girl, a feminist retelling of the Lilith story a la Mists of Avalon, a story based on Talmudic tales and set in medieval Europe, even a story set during the Lilith Fair music festival. Tales could be sexy, funny, satirical, feminist, post-feminist, religious, blasphemous, thought-provoking. Lilith stories could fall into the realm of literary fiction or encompass several genres and many of the current cross-genre hybrids. The more I thought about it, the more convinced I became that one Lilith story just wasn't enough for me. I ran the idea past Rob King, the editor of Popcorn Press, and his response was, "If you put together the stories, we'll publish the anthology." So here we go.
