About

Cake publishes poetry, short fiction, comment/essay-style pieces, reviews and artwork from both new and established literary and creative talent. Based in the English Literature and Creative Writing department at Lancaster University the magazine was set up by students in 2009. Similar to the two other journals within the department, Flash and The Luminary, Cake provides a valuable opportunity for students wishing to gain editorial experience. But, as a print publication, being involved with the running of the magazine also allows students to gain an understanding of print production, sales and marketing strategies and publicity and events management. And, most importantly, we get to present and promote some truly fantastic work – accepting submissions from across the globe.
