About

Calliope is the official publication of the Writers' Special Interest Group (SIG) of American Mensa, Ltd. It is published quarterly with a dynamic circulation that includes nearly every state in the USA. Calliope on the Web is an online extension of printed Calliope. Calliope is essentially a writer’s workshop that provides a forum for writers to exchange ideas, learn more about the craft, and be published. New writers are especially welcome. Mensa membership is not required to subscribe or submit works for publication.

Collapse section Fiction Temp Closed

The purpose of fiction in Calliope is to entertain its readers, most of whom are writers, or trying to be. Calliope is open to any genre of short fiction, including science fiction, fantasy, horror, mystery, and all their sub-genres. Mixed genre stories and experimental forms are also welcome. Mainstream/literary stories will be considered if they are in some way out of the ordinary. Humor and satire are greatly appreciated. Since Calliope is basically a writers’ newsletter offering tips on writing, market and contest news, and reviews, space for fiction is limited.
