Coal Hill Review

A project of Autumn House Press (see other related projects).

This project is on indefinite hiatus. Check their site to find out whether this is a submission and/or publication hiatus. (June 2022)

About

As the online imprint of Autumn House Press, Coal Hill strives to further the press’s mission of publishing and promoting the work of excellent contemporary writers who have a following among readers, but whose work has been overlooked by commercial publishers. We seek to support and publish a wide range of diverse voices, as well as illuminate the talent of Pittsburgh writers. Our goal is to support and connect writers and allow their work to reach new audiences through the immediacy of online publishing.

Fees Notice: This project charges fees (or requires purchases) for all submissions, and they do not offer monetary payment for accepted submissions. (Note: About 8% of magazines always charge fees.)

Before Submitting

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close without notice. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Duotrope listings do not imply endorsement or recommendation of the project being listed. Before submitting, you should use your own judgment to determine whether the project meets your standards.

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • Be professional, patient, and persistent.
