About

DeadLights Magazine is inspired by the history of Horror Fiction. For many, the immediate association when one says ‘Horror Fiction’ is the Horror Novel, thanks, in part, to legends like Stephen King, Peter Straub, and Shirley Jackson (among many others). What surprises most, we find, is that the history of horror fiction is deeply wound around shorter works of fiction. Much has been done in the Horror genre when it comes to the short story, the poem, and flash fiction. There is still much left to do. Our goal is to give a voice to new, up-and-coming authors and artists who enjoy Horror Fiction as much as we do. We are like you: fans, building a home for fans, just as if we were all gathering around the fire to tell a good ghost story. Because it’s good to hear a story.
