Dog Days Byteback

Permanently Closed: This project is permanently closed to submissions. We provide the following information as an archive.

About

Route are currently sourcing stories for a byteback entitled Dog Days. The title is the only parameter for the compilation and so the theme can be interpreted in several ways. As an example, the very hot days of late summer. The ancient Romans noticed that the hottest days of the year, in late July and early August, coincided with the Dog Star (aka Sirius, aka The Great Dog) being in the same part of the sky as the Sun. They thought the position of the star contributed to the heat of the day. So stories of high summer, the night sky are all possibilities. Dog days could also be taken literally, to mean days with dogs. Love them or hate them, as man’s best friend, there is plenty of room for interpretation of the title.
