Embers Igniting Permanently Closed: This project is permanently closed to submissions (January 2019). We provide the following information as an archive. About Embers Igniting is a literature and fine art magazine out of Albuquerque, NM. We do three things: 1. Publish real, relevant, radical writing and art for the glory of Christ. 2. Provide resources and topics of discussion for writers and artists. 3. Engage in the community of creators, both locally and globally. We publish fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and visual art. In writing, we look for the light in the darkness and the darkness in the light; deep truths revealed through good old fashioned story-telling; and humor that doesn’t try too hard and wit that cuts. While we are a “Christian” magazine, we look for the spiritual tones in all submissions. Above all, we’re interested in quality story-telling. We publish most genres, with a particular fondness for fantasy and science fiction and their various subgenres (e.g., slipstream, dark fantasy, etc.). We are not interested in erotica or extreme horror. We love various forms of fiction (e.g., short stories, short screenplays, flash fiction) that tell a complete story, no matter the length.Audience:Open to a broad Audience, including: Christians.Genres: Open to all/most Genres, including: Fantasy Open to all/most Subgenres Science Fiction Open to all/most SubgenresLengths: Flash Fiction: Up to 1,000 words; Up to 5 pieces. We publish both free verse and form poetry, but rhyming should be done subtly and with skill.Audience:Open to a broad Audience, including: Christians.Genres: Open to all/most Genres, including: Fantasy Open to all/most Subgenres Science Fiction Open to all/most SubgenresLengths: Poem: Up to 100 lines; Up to 5 pieces.Poetry Forms:Open to all/most Forms.Styles:Open to all/most Styles, including: Literary, Mainstream.Topics: Open to all/most Topics including... We want to feel emotions through color, be moved to action by crisp lines, and stay grounded by the coherence of a piece. As for art mediums, if it can be printed on the page, we’d love to see it, especially photography, drawings, paintings, and digital art.Audience:Open to a broad Audience, including: Christians.Lengths: Artwork: Up to 5 pieces.Art Media: Open to all/most Art Media, including...
