About

The Fairhaven Journal of Creative Research is a tribute to academic exploration and a call to return to academic creativity and risk taking. Unlike most journals, this one is dedicated to scholars who take risks and try new things. It is a place for new ideas, especially those outside the author’s normal area of expertise. Our goal is to encourage scholarship that is interdisciplinary and original. We accept completed works, essays, works-in-progress, abandoned projects, scholars seeking collaborators, and reviews of other’s research. The inspiration for this journal was the work of Leonardo da Vinci. Leonardo knew that the quest for true knowledge took scholars down a wide variety of academic fields for which they were not necessarily properly trained. This often leads to failed and incomplete projects but the knowledge gained from these projects, experiments, and inventions is invaluable. We also see this in the work of great scholars like Einstein who was one of the last great generalists in the field of Physics. Hyper-specialization is becoming a problem in academia and we want to encourage scholars to explore many different areas of scholarship.
