About

FireGoat’s Fantastic Tales is a biannual publication dedicated to fairy tales, fables, and folklore from around the world. While fantasy plays a big role in such stories, we also welcome cross-genre tales and will consider some speculative fiction. We actively seek to publish new and emerging authors, and welcome international submissions. For those who may be wondering why we’re doing this, well, we believe there’s a shortage of modern fairy tales, and a deficit of folklore. To remedy this situation, we invite talented writers far and wide to submit their finest stories for inclusion.

Flash Fiction: Up to 1,000 words.
Short Story: 1,000 - 5,000 words.

Open to all/most Styles, including: Literary, Mainstream.

Topics:

Folklore/Mythology: General, Ancient mythologies, Cultural folklore, Fables, Fairy tales.

Payment:

Token payment (under 1 US cent per word) to Semi-pro payment (1-4.9 US cents per word) Pay ranges from Token payment (under 1 US cent per word) to Semi-pro payment (1-4.9 US cents per word).
Note: We list broad pay categories rather than payment specifics. Check with the publisher for details.

Submissions:

Method: Electronic submissions.
Reprints: Reprints are NOT allowed.
Simultaneous submissions: Simultaneous submissions are allowed.
