Gender Queer Literature Permanently Closed: This project is permanently closed to submissions (May 2023). We provide the following information as an archive. About Gender Queer Literature is a free online and living resource for contemporary genderqueer perspectives. With these goals, GQL looks for and publishes articles on the representation of non-conforming gendered contemporary literature. We publish creative works with gender non-conforming protagonists or by authors who self-identify as such. We also share the craft and workshop outlines on how to write such perspectives, as presented at colleges and communities across UK, USA and (hopefully) beyond. Collapse section Nonfiction Closed Critical Works: This website calls for a more conscious representation of a marginalised community who have been–and continue to be–excluded from the literary canon. Suzanne Pharr (1997) stated “The best controlling tactic at puberty is to be treated as an outsider, to be ostracised at a time when it feels most vital to be accepted.” With this in mind, GQL will share thesis, articles, and abstracts connected to our topic of non-conforming gendered narratives. On the Craft of Writing outside of the Gender Binary: GQL asks how do we use gendered language and gender markers to write androgynous narratives? How are authentic gender-queer experiences represented in contemporary English literature and by whom? We share workshops/classes here on how to represent a marginalized community, including Queer Flash, Creating Queer Characters, Gender Neutral Names, and Gendered Language.Audience:Open to a broad Audience, including: All genders, Nonbinary people, Transgender people, Specific gender identity, Scholars.Lengths: Review: No specific word count limits known.
