About

Grande Dame Literary & Art Journal (Moth&Thistle) is an online publication for women writers supporting women writers. In 2026, we will have expanded to encompass supporting women artists. Our writers come from around the globe, sharing work that makes us think, feel, dream, and crave more. They run the gamut from newcomers to self-published novelists to award-winning, traditionally published authors. Ages range from sixteen to ninety-something. Our original motto was about believing that everywoman was a self-defined Grande Dame, years later it is a sentiment we still hold, and is the inspiration that guides our publication.

Fees Notice: This project charges fees (or requires purchases) for all submissions, except for flash fiction and nonfiction (<500 words), and they do not offer monetary payment for accepted submissions. (Note: About 8% of magazines always charge fees.)
The fee range is USD $1 to $35 (below average to above average for magazines that charge).

Limited Demographic: Submissions are restricted to women.
