Pens and Poison Magazine This project is believed to be defunct. (June 2025) About Literary magazines suck.Really. I’ve been part of the experiment. How many times have you gone to submit to a lit mag only to find an exhaustive list of themes, topics, or identities that don’t apply to you or your writing? Don’t you wish that these magazines would just publish a good piece of writing for once?As someone who just wants to find a home for writing that comes from blood, soul, and experience, I’ve often been frustrated by the lack of genuine literary lovers in the literary journal world. That’s why I created Pens and Poison Mag, a new type of literary magazine that does not constrain your writing by theme, group, or identity. We’re just interested in good writing that captures a genuine facet of the human experience. At Pens and Poison, we don’t care who you are. Just learn how to write and send us your best.
