About

357 members set this magazine as a Favorite.

For over 150 years, Reed Magazine has published the work of writers and artists whose voices persist beyond the page, whose imagery lingers in our minds, and whose language challenges us to think, to do, to be part of the creative legacy of our time. Based in San José, California, Reed is honored to feature the works of new and emerging authors alongside pieces by literary lions such as William Finnegan, Ursula K. Le Guin, T. C. Boyle, Naomi Shihab Nye, Forrest Gander, and Robert Hass. In addition, we publish original profiles of authors connected to the Golden State, examining their take on life and art.

Before Submitting

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close without notice. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Duotrope listings do not imply endorsement or recommendation of the project being listed. Before submitting, you should use your own judgment to determine whether the project meets your standards.

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • Be professional, patient, and persistent.
