About

Genre fiction -- whether science fiction, fantasy, Western, slipstream, or weird fiction in general -- is fundamentally the fiction of change. A new technology might upend the world as we know it. People might be forced to survive in the wreckage of a war waged with sinister magic. A native community might lose everything they know when their lands become someone else's frontier. A woman might find her sense of self evolving as her understanding of reality alters. Scareship Magazine is about similar moments of technological, social, and personal change, and how people learn to adapt to, embrace, or overcome these changes in their own lives. It is an outlet for the anxieties, uncertainties, hopes, and actions of beings of every place and every time.
