The Belfast Review About The inspiration for The Belfast Review came from a conversation between like minds about the future of the arts in Northern Ireland, its essential part in the peace process, and the need to create a shared vision of the future for everyone regardless of background.Recent funding cuts to the arts, education, and social welfare programs both in Northern Ireland and abroad suddenly put things into perspective - without artists and creatives, who will help us imagine a better future? The world needs "shamelessly enthusiastic champions" of the arts, to show those in charge why it matters. That's our goal, with your help.Taking inspiration from the works of Ciaran Carson, we aim to create a dialogue between the arts, featuring genres not usually included in literary journals such as song lyrics, plays, screenplays, and hybrid forms - to better reflect the lived experience of art, the self, and the city.Part of our mission is to give back to the writing community, and we offer low cost Editorial Services for emerging and working class writers (which everyone is welcome to use).We are an international team of creatives with combined experience in publishing, music, art, drama, and filmmaking. And we’re excited to bring you with us on this journey.
