The Brussels Review

About

We believe in the power of words and the magic they create when arranged just right. We are a sanctuary for ideas, opinions, and narratives, a place where creativity is celebrated, and diversity is embraced.

Our mission is to provide a platform for voices from all corners of the world. We are particularly committed to promoting non-native English writers and translations, while also welcoming works from native English creators. Our goal is to create a rich tapestry of perspectives, experiences, and expressions that reflect the world’s diversity.

We have no forbidden words, subjects, or any form of censorship. We welcome all ideas and opinions, as long as they hold literary value. We believe in the freedom of expression and the importance of open dialogue in literature.

Submissions are accepted throughout the year, though we may occasionally pause them to evaluate what has been received. We ask for patience during these periods. To support writers—especially those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds—we also consider occasional compensation, assessed case by case by the Editorial Team.

Fees Notice: This project charges fees (or requires purchases) for some submissions. They charge fees for written submissions (except for reviews).
The fee is EUR €5 (above average for magazines that charge).
Submission Caps: They may close to submissions early if they reach their quota.

Before Submitting

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close without notice. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Duotrope listings do not imply endorsement or recommendation of the project being listed. Before submitting, you should use your own judgment to determine whether the project meets your standards.

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • Be professional, patient, and persistent.
