The Genizah This project is believed to be defunct. (October 2017) About Our text lives. In Judaism when a text of particular holiness or religious significance has lived out its original purpose, we don’t simply destroy it. We treat it with the love it deserves, placing it in a special container in a manner that truly respects the text. Centuries later, these burial chambers, known as genizahs, are often rediscovered, breathing new life into those ancient texts and bringing new-old knowledge to the current generation. For many of us, the stories that we want to tell are so often thrown aside with little respect for their potential. Do our dreams not deserve to be given life? Do we not owe it to others, those alive today, and those who will come tomorrow, to share and preserve our imagination? The Genizah is the container through which dreams can come to life through text, where stories can be shared and enrich all of our lives.
