About

In 1991 I landed my first job at Christopher Street, the nation’s pre-eminent gay magazine featuring work from Edmund White, Andrew Holleran, and Quentin Crisp. It welcomed me when no other publication would, validating a world where as men we could express ourselves freely, set our own rules, and love other men without compromise.
The fiction section carried real weight. Sharp perspectives on grief, dating in the AIDS era, and aging in our youth-obsessed culture. Stories that are just as resonant today, if not more so.
Back in 1991, I never imagined we’d achieve the rights and broad societal acceptance we enjoy today. In 2026, I fear the backslide.
This publication challenges erasure with poignant voices that rebuild, sustain, and carry forth our community. Come down the path into the wood and get lost in The Ramble with us.
