Walnutport Review

Fledgling Listing: This project is new and has been listed with us for less than six months.

About

Walnutport Review was born from a simple belief: Great stories deserve a home, and the best judges of fiction are those who have spent a lifetime living inside books.

We aren’t just editors; we are lifelong readers. Our mission is to bypass the “gatekeepers” of traditional publishing and provide a platform for bold, new short fiction that speaks to the human experience. Whether it’s a gripping character study or a world-bending piece of speculative fiction, we are looking for the stories that stick with you long after the tab is closed.

Fiction Open

Walnutport Review seeks the haunting and the heavy. We are particularly interested in story-driven fiction that excavates the darker, unmapped territories of the mind.

We are looking for characters operating under their own feverish internal logic—build your story toward the precise moment that logic collapses or reveals its true, terrifying shape. We don’t want passive snapshots; we want stories with teeth. If there isn't blood on the page (literal or emotional) and the stakes aren't absolute, it’s likely not for us.

While we seek the dark and the visceral, Walnutport Review is not a market for the following:

Genre Tropes: We are a literary journal, not a horror/fantasy magazine. We have a hard pass on vampires, werewolves, zombies, or traditional "creature" horror.

Gratuitous Content: We value psychological weight over shock value. We do not publish stories focused on extreme gore, "slasher" tropes, or pornographic content.

Passive Sketches: We are not looking for "quiet" vignettes or plotless observations. If nothing is at stake and nothing changes, it isn't for us.
