BatCat Press

About

68 members set this publisher as a Favorite.

BatCat Press was officially founded in 2009 by a group of six intrepid high school students. With the support of Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School, BatCat Press has established itself as an innovative independent publisher specializing in handmade limited editions of new works by both first time and established authors, and continues to be staffed entirely by high school students. The goal of BatCat Press is to provide students the opportunity to work in a professional press environment while upholding high literary and design standards, publishing work that is both innovative and accessible.

Important: They encourage submissions between June 1st and August 31st. Submissions sent at other times will have longer response times.

Before Submitting

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close without notice. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Duotrope listings do not imply endorsement or recommendation of the project being listed. Before submitting, you should use your own judgment to determine whether the project meets your standards.

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • For book publishers, it is standard to submit a cover letter, synopsis, and sample instead of the full manuscript. Do this unless otherwise instructed.
  • Be professional, patient, and persistent.
