About

Gold Coast Editions was founded in Chicago's Gold Coast in 2026, with roots in New York City's Tribeca. We publish fiction and nonfiction with one foot in the late twentieth century and the other in the present—literature that could have been written in 1999 or 2026. We're drawn to work that's intimate, obsessive, stylish, and emotionally precise, with an eye toward cities, culture, identity, and the strange ways people move through the world.

Some of the writers who inspire us include Anthony Bourdain, Emma Cline, Leslie Jamison, Julia May Jonas, Melissa Broder, Otessa Moshfegh, Allie Rowbottom, and Elizabeth Wurtzel.

If you think your work belongs on our list, we'd love to hear from you.

Before Submitting

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close without notice. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Duotrope listings do not imply endorsement or recommendation of the project being listed. Before submitting, you should use your own judgment to determine whether the project meets your standards.

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • For book publishers, it is standard to submit a cover letter, synopsis, and sample instead of the full manuscript. Do this unless otherwise instructed.
  • Be professional, patient, and persistent.
