Match Books

We’re editors and writers and marketers. We write, we edit, we manage vendor accounts, we dream up marketing campaigns, we champion books, we proofread, we mentor, and we love stories — reading and writing and talking about them. Mia Marshall came up with the idea for Match Books after publishing her first book, Broken Elements. The experience made her realize she wanted a publishing space somewhere between traditional and self-publishing. Unable to find such a thing, she decided to create one herself. While Mia could speak to the author’s perspective, she had limited experience in publishing herself, so she called on friends with a combined 15+ years of experience at a variety of publishing companies (some you’ve heard of and some you probably haven’t). Through a combination of well-reasoned argument and puppy-dog eyes, she convinced them to bring that wealth of knowledge to Match Books. We created Match Books because we see incredible opportunities in publishing, and we want to be part of shaping that. Publishing should be a partnership, not just between the author and reader or between the publisher and author. Everyone involved in bringing a book into the world is a vital part of a community, and we want to build a publishing company that doesn’t just acknowledge that, it harnesses the possibilities and shares both the workload and the rewards.
