About

Shire Reckoning Publishing House stands as a testament to the power of the written word, to its transformative dynamic, to the long term consequences of ideas. Short term profits and large returns on investment may be hard to come by in 21st century publishing, but we are living through a time of intense cultural and political change, and the ideas that take the long view will be those that win out. SRPH is dedicated to those long views, to wild speculation, to courage and dynamism, to wrestling with big ideas and distant dreams. Shire Reckoning Publishing House wants to set some things in stone and watch that stone outlast the end of cheap oil and electricity and air conditioning and all of the political squabbles of the day. Shire Reckoning wants to publish books that make a difference, even if that difference is a long way out. Most great, strong, hardy things take time to grow, build deep roots, and flower. SRHP is devoted to those roots, and those long-awaited flowers.

Before Submitting

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close without notice. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Duotrope listings do not imply endorsement or recommendation of the project being listed. Before submitting, you should use your own judgment to determine whether the project meets your standards.

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • For book publishers, it is standard to submit a cover letter, synopsis, and sample instead of the full manuscript. Do this unless otherwise instructed.
  • Be professional, patient, and persistent.
