About

68 members set this publisher as a Favorite.

Split/Lip Press is dedicated to publishing boundary-breaking fiction, nonfiction, and hybrid books, lifting the transition boards that prevent fluidity and smashing those we cannot pry up. We love work that questions the concept of truth, and work that reinterprets what we think we know. We prize experimentation (physical, emotional, metaphysical, meta-emotional); we welcome the unanswerable. We want to see the dark and the light side of the moon—or we want to see it obliterated. If your book is a wedge in a crack, Split/Lip Press is the hammer helping you split the wall apart. Split/Lip Press publishes beautifully designed, high quality prose books and chapbooks. We collaborate with our authors as much as possible to design books which reflect the complexity of their work, and we print on-demand to provide our authors with the highest possible royalties. Each year, Split/Lip Press runs a guest-judged chapbook contest as well as separate submissions periods for flash fiction/short story manuscripts, novella/novels, and memoir/NF-hybrid/essay collections.

Fees Notice: This project charges fees (or requires purchases) for all submissions, except for when the fee is prohibitive. The fee range is USD $10 to $15.
Important: They accept different types of manuscripts at different times. As always, check their current guidelines before submitting.

Before Submitting

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close without notice. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Duotrope listings do not imply endorsement or recommendation of the project being listed. Before submitting, you should use your own judgment to determine whether the project meets your standards.

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • For book publishers, it is standard to submit a cover letter, synopsis, and sample instead of the full manuscript. Do this unless otherwise instructed.
  • Be professional, patient, and persistent.
