About

Producers of fine books and new ideas, UWA Publishing (UWAP) continues to expand the boundaries of academic publishing, striving for social, cultural and intellectual renewal. Award-winning fiction and non-fiction works illustrate its strength and diversity in a modern university. UWAP’s impetus is to make a contribution to the culture we operate from, and to do so with foresight and rigour. A division of The University of Western Australia, UWAP has been publishing important books since 1935.

Important: They accept different types of work at different times. Demographic restrictions for submissions vary. As always, check their current guidelines before submitting.
The editors may not respond to all submissions. After waiting 90 days, assume your submission will not be accepted.

Before Submitting

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close without notice. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Duotrope listings do not imply endorsement or recommendation of the project being listed. Before submitting, you should use your own judgment to determine whether the project meets your standards.

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • For book publishers, it is standard to submit a cover letter, synopsis, and sample instead of the full manuscript. Do this unless otherwise instructed.
  • Be professional, patient, and persistent.
