About

Based in Berkeley, California and Asheville, North Carolina, Wet Cement Press has been publishing 4-8 books a year with a focus on poetry, hybrid books, creative memoir, and unusual fiction since 2019. Wet Cement Press was started by a group of writers who once lived and worked together in San Francisco. Our tastes run toward the lyrical and spontaneous, the raw and unsmooth. We are interested in writers & artists who are established in their craft but have not yet been recognized, perhaps because their work is not easily classifiable, or because it falls outside of current trends and approaches. We also support work by more recognized writers and artists that represents a departure from what they are generally known for.

Before Submitting

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close without notice. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Duotrope listings do not imply endorsement or recommendation of the project being listed. Before submitting, you should use your own judgment to determine whether the project meets your standards.

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • For book publishers, it is standard to submit a cover letter, synopsis, and sample instead of the full manuscript. Do this unless otherwise instructed.
  • Be professional, patient, and persistent.
