(May 2023) About Writing Knights was developed in 2009 by Azriel Johnson just after he became homeless. Writing Knights started as a freelance writing outfit where he was able to make enough money to stay in a storage unit over the winter of 2009-2010. Once he recovered from being homeless, he moved to Cleveland, Ohio and started participating in the poetry scene. He saw his first chapbook and went to his first events and thought, "Hey, I can do this" and created his first chapbook "Hellfire, Heavensent." After realizing how easy chapbook creation was he formulated a plan and enlisted 5 fellow poets to release chapbooks with his new, independent, Writing Knights Press.
