About

During his three decades in publishing and journalism, Nick Chiles shepherded many bestselling books from conception to publication as a celebrity co-author, writing New York Times bestsellers with R&B icon Bobby Brown, civil rights leader Rev. Al Sharpton, and gospel legend Kirk Franklin, among others. Chiles served as a newspaper reporter, magazine writer, and magazine and website editor-in-chief during his years in journalism, winning nearly 20 major awards—including a 1992 Pulitzer Prize as part of a New York Newsday team. He has also spent considerable time teaching writing to young people, helping to mold the next generation of Morrisons and Rowlings. Chiles is a graduate of Yale University. Based in Atlanta, Chiles is deeply interested in nonfiction and fiction stories of individuals taking on entrenched institutions, writing that fearlessly pushes us to look at each other in fresh ways, voices that shine a light on the darkest corners of our society. He is on the lookout for original takes on American heroes—or crowning new ones—in areas like sports, music and the arts.
