HIV Here & Now Anthology

A project of Indolent Books (see other related projects).

Permanently Closed: This project is permanently closed to submissions (December 2016). We provide the following information as an archive.

About

Indolent Books is seeking poems for The HIV Here & Now Print Anthology (forthcoming in 2017), a component of the HIV Here & Now Project. No restrictions as to the author's sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, race, ethnicity, or any other identity category. No restrictions in terms of HIV status: the writer can be HIV-positive or HIV-negative or not know their HIV status. As long as the work relates in some way, literally or metaphorically, to HIV and its impact today. This anthology is about current experience. People living with HIV for a long time or for a short time. People who are negative and trying to stay that way via any and all methods or no methods. Negative partners of positive people. Men, women, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, any race, any age, infected via any mode of transmission—homo-sex, hetero-sex, sharing needles, transfusion, mother-to-child transmission. (I would love to get work from people born with HIV.) Work that reflects the ways grief persists into the present. What is it like to live now with the experience of loss from months, years, or decades ago?
