Malala: Poems for Malala Yousafzai A project of FutureCycle Press (see other related projects). Permanently Closed: This project is permanently closed to submissions. We provide the following information as an archive. About We have been so saddened and moved by the story of Malala Yousafzai, the young Pakistani girl who, on October 9, 2012, was shot in the head and neck in an assassination attempt by a Taliban gunman while returning home on a school bus. Her crime? Hoping for better education for girls like herself. This anthology of poems will be published in her honor. We welcome poems honoring the life and aspirations of Malala and those who have been moved by her example. Poems don't have to mention Malala or be "dedicated" to her. But they should explore the cultural, political, emotional, and intellectual issues brought to the fore by Malala's situation and affecting the daily lives of people around the world.
