Unlike so much of what is published today—often little more than disposable entertainment—the best poems can and should endure. A poem is like a piece of amber embedding perceptions, emotions, and thoughts as if still alive. The best pieces are holographic, reflecting light and affording insight, now and in the future. FutureCycle Press’s mission, then, is to help preserve for posterity these little time capsules, these poems, so they may be discovered and explored and appreciated. Flash fiction and fictional narratives should not be included, nor should any concrete poetry, shaped poetry, or poems relying on bulleted or columnar text as these are difficult, if not impossible, to reproduce for the Kindle edition. Remove any "words scattered all over the page" poems, because these are very difficult to read, especially in digital formats (like on cellphones) where type size and intended line breaks cannot be controlled.
