2113: An Oral History of the Future A project of The Subtopian (see other related projects). Permanently Closed: This project is permanently closed to submissions. We provide the following information as an archive. About As a genre, Dystopian fiction has a remarkable track record – 1984, Brave New World, Farenheit 451, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? By Phillip K. Dick, Neuromancer by William Gibson, The Time Machine by H.G. Wells…the list could go on and on. These are visions of our darkest possible future as a species, but they are the vision of a single individual. Our collective fate will be decided by many, not just one, and that is why The Subtopian is innovating a collective, collaborative project to tell the story of our possible downfall as a civilization. We are calling for original Dystopian fiction submissions to participate in a collaborative performance detailing the future history of our world after the fallout. It is up to each writer to determine for themselves how and why it happened, as well as what it is like living as a survivor. From the submissions, our editors will select stories that can be woven into a narrative that will be performed by Serendipity Players, a Readers Theater in the Portland area and published as a print anthology.
