About

The Adroit Journal has its eyes focused ahead, showcasing what its global staff of emerging writers sees as the future of poetry, prose, and art. Since inception, the journal has featured the voices of Terrance Hayes, Dorianne Laux, Ned Vizzini, Laura Kasischke, Edith Pearlman, D. A. Powell, NoViolet Bulawayo, Ellen Bass, Lydia Millet, and beyond. Recent contributions have been featured in The New York Times, Best American Poetry, Pushcart Prizes: Best of the Small Presses, Poetry Daily, Best of the Net, Best New Poets, and Verse Daily, and by Teen Vogue and NPR. We’re looking for work that’s bizarre, authentic, subtle, outrageous, indefinable, raw, paradoxical. We’ve got our eyes on the horizon. Send us writing that lives just between the land and the sky.

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close without notice. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Just remember…

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • Be professional, patient, and persistent.
