LEON Literary Review

About

LEON Literary Review is [an] on-line publication that honors the memory of Leon N. Shapiro. We strive to promote the qualities he embodied: generosity of mind and spirit, wide-ranging curiosity, and full engagement with the world. We welcome submissions from writers of all backgrounds, experience, and identities. Our aesthetic is eclectic. We’re looking for writing that uses language in interesting ways and comes in at an angle to the event, occasion, and person. In our view, formal, free, and experimental forms of both poetry and fiction often work with all these elements in ways we appreciate. We don’t publish work that glorifies self-harm or hatred.

Important: Length requirements vary across different submission periods. Check guidelines to determine which lengths are accepted in a particular submission window.

Before Submitting

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close without notice. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Duotrope listings do not imply endorsement or recommendation of the project being listed. Before submitting, you should use your own judgment to determine whether the project meets your standards.

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
