Parakeet Magazine

A project of Honeyguide Literary Magazine (see other related projects).

This project is on indefinite hiatus. Check their site to find out whether this is a submission and/or publication hiatus. (January 2025)

About

As caregivers and teachers, we know the extraordinary need for young voices to be heard. Many of us at Honeyguide have worked with children for years and have seen their unique view of the world. We wanted a magazine that welcomed their views and nourished them with quality stories, poetry, and artwork about human-animal relationships. Parakeet is an annual magazine that features fiction, nonfiction, art, and poetry from both adult and child contributors (age 7-14). We publish original work that explores the relationships between humans and animals, and how intertwined their lives can be.
