Perspectives: Poetry Concerning Autism

A project of Local Gems Poetry Press (see other related projects).

Permanently Closed: This project is permanently closed to submissions. We provide the following information as an archive.

About

The Long Island Autism Examiner, in cooperation with Local Gems Poetry Press and the Long Island Poetry Examiner, is now taking submissions for a new poetry anthology, Perspectives. The mission statement is as follows: "It is the goal of this anthology to convey, through the art of poetry, different perspectives concerning the autism spectrum and other neurological, psychological, social, and communicative disabilities. The poems can be from those with disabilities, by those with disabilities, about those with disabilities, or come from the point of views of family or friends of those as well. Perspectives hopes to use poetry to convey not only understanding, but unity, and a sense that despite different perspectives and different ways of living life, we are all human." Submissions should relate to the disabilities listed above in a significant and non-derogatory manner, and there will be a strong but non-exclusive focus on the autism spectrum, so preference will be given to pieces with relevance to that community.
