About

I am looking for stories about road trips; about joy rides; about gas guzzlers and cars with fins; about oil tycoons and the regular Joe down the street at Joe's Garage; about the old boom towns just this side of Gomorrah; about those same boom towns gone bust; about roughnecks and roustabouts and wildcatters going up against the Big Boys; about oil spills and their aftermath; about far-off oilfields aflame; about burning the midnight oil; about things made from oil, for good or ill--the artificial heart that spares a life, the plastic gun that looks all too real; about how the epic tale of oil will continue to unfold long after you and I have quit this earth. In short, I'm seeking original, unpublished fiction in which that boon and bane of our civilization--petroleum--plays a part. How much of a part, is up to you. The ideas I've listed above are mere suggestions. I say: have at it. Let your imagination go to work. And if, for example, you wish to sneak in a gem involving bath oil or cooking oil or some oil of your own invention, then by all means do so.
