The Emma Press Poems About Age Anthology

A project of The Emma Press (see other related projects).

Permanently Closed: This project is permanently closed to submissions. We provide the following information as an archive.

About

We’re all ageing. All of us, all of the time. As a society we’re getting even older, but we seldom seem to stop and think about the huge mental and physical changes that happen to us as we get old, or what it’s like to live as an old person. For a new anthology of poems about age, we’re looking for poems that want to challenge, celebrate or just give age a voice. We want poems that show us how fun it can be to be old, poems that show us how hard it can be, poems that let us know what it’s like when some things just don’t work anymore – and when some are better than ever. We want to hear from older people, but we want to hear from everyone else as well. What’s it like when the people you love get old? To get old is to live, but also to be reminded that we don’t go on living forever. Send us your poems that feel that fear and write about it anyway.

Fees Notice: This project charges fees (or requires purchases) for all submissions, and they do not offer monetary payment for accepted submissions. (Note: About 10% of anthologies always charge fees.)
