Quirky flash fiction

What other current publications (or publishers) do you admire most?

Quirky Flash Chronicles
The Believer

What is the best advice you can give people who are considering submitting work to your publication?

Submit the very best version of your story. Scrutinize every word choice, connect the thoughts, remove as many instances of "that" as possible, fictionalize the real brand names. Read the room to know if your story is a fit. For all writers, know that Short Beasts values your voice. We try to help authors publish the best possible iteration of their short works. We are open-minded, employ high standards, and aim to inspire writers and readers alike.

Describe the ideal submission.

The ideal submission closely follows our submission guidelines. Put another way, make your submission as easy as possible for us to approve.

What do submitters most often get wrong about your submissions process?

We receive many submissions lacking adherence to our submission guidelines.

How much do you want to know about the person submitting to you?

We need to receive an up to one-hundred word author bio, written in the third-person, which includes publication credits.

If you publish writing, how much of a piece do you read before making the decision to reject it?

We read nearly every story all the way through.
