Note: One of the most common requests we receive is to compile a list of the "most prestigious publishers." Prestige is a subjective concept, and we try to steer clear of subjective concepts. One person's idea of prestige may be a publisher that only accepts a few submissions out of thousands, while another's idea of prestige may be a publisher that pays in mountains of money, and a third person's idea may be publishers that receive submissions by the cubic ton (indicating that other people really want to be published there). We won't ever provide a list of publications we deem prestigious, but we are willing to provide the lists on this page, as well as the list of markets with the lowest acceptance rates. If you are interested in high paying markets, we recommend including Payscale: Professional in your searches (although you should prepare to be discouraged, as there are only a handful of them left).
