Q: What is the best advice you can give people who are considering submitting work to your publication?
A: Stick to the topic of the call for the issue. Look at the mission of the Black Earth Institute and the work of its fellows.

A: Various media, that speak to the subjects in the world beyond the self, skillfully done and powerful in its imagery and message.
Q: What do submitters most often get wrong about your submissions process?
A: Not speak to the topic
Q: How much do you want to know about the person submitting to you?
A: Short bio with credits and experience in the world and its issues in cover letter. Formal bio short.
Q: If you publish writing, how much of a piece do you read before making the decision to reject it?
A: The guest editors read and I can't say. I have edited two issues and it varies

A: May consult with others for quality or relevance
Q: What is a day in the life of an editor like for you?
A: More work in solicitation as well. Reading done in no fixed fashion, mixed in with other duties. The editor also interacts with art/layout person

A: very important
