Felicity Blunt

An agent with Curtis Brown (see other agents at this agency).

About

I first trained as a barrister before interning at both the Wylie Agency and Curtis Brown. I officially joined Curtis Brown in 2005 and have worked for the company both from London and New York. I represent authors that span the literary to commercial spectrum, including Booker Prize shortlisted Claire Keegan, Women's Prize shortlisted Meg Mason, Rosamund Lupton, Renée Knight and Gillian McAllister in addition to NYT bestselling debut authors Abi Daré and Bonnie Garmus.

I am privileged to work with the Estate of Daphne du Maurier and the legendary Jilly Cooper, both of whom represent all that I look for in fiction: original stories, sharp observation of human behaviours and a singular voice.

I co-agent a number of authors with the US agency CAA, among whom number the Pulitzer-winning Jennifer Egan and Women's Prize winner Ann Patchett.

My fiction tastes are broad but are unified by my desire to represent unique stories and smart voices. What I want is to feel passionate about the narrative and believe absolutely in the world an author has crafted. I love thrillers, suspense, crime, historical, women’s and literary fiction. I’m open to outstanding speculative fiction, or that which imagines alternative histories.

My non-fiction list consists of bestselling cookery writers Anna Jones, Rukmini Iyer, Claire Ptak and CAA client Samin Nosrat, as well as Stanley Tucci’s food memoir TASTE and WHAT I ATE IN ONE YEAR.

In the non-fiction space I am also drawn to books that examine issues of women’s bodies, sex and status. I like to work with all of my clients in the 360, helping to form a strategy that straddles not only the domestic and international sales of their books, but also the exploitation of their media rights. I am currently serving as an EP on the Disney + adaptation of Jilly Cooper’s RIVALS.

In non-fiction writers I want someone who can write beautifully and evocatively about their subject and have the potential to change the way I think or act, be it what I put on my plate or how I see society.

Agent Impersonation Scams are becoming commonplace.
A legitimate agent will not contact you and request money to represent you. Never pay an agent an up-front fee. That is not how literary agent representation works. Agents earn a commission only after they've landed a publishing deal for you. Also, agents scarcely ever contact writers. If an agent that you haven't queried contacts you about representation, be suspicious. Look up the agent and check if the email address is correct for that agent/agency.
