About

Born and bred in Dublin, I started my publishing career at Poolbeg press before moving to London in 1991. Through the 90s and 00s I held a number of high-profile sales and marketing positions at leading publishers, including HaperCollins and Hodder. My knowledge of the book industry covering the UK, Ireland and international markets was developed during this period and continues to be a wonderful asset in my work with authors and publishers. I made the move to agenting in 2003.
I represent a wide range of authors from award-winning novelists to million-copy-selling non-fiction writers. Authors are at the centre of everything I do as an agent - one of the best things about the job is working closely with writers across all stages of the publishing process. I am looking for the best new talent in bookclub and commercial fiction, be that an epic romance, family drama, transporting saga or a page-turning thriller. As well as helping debut authors launch a publishing career, I’m also interested in taking on published writers who may want to reinvigorate their career or change direction.

In fiction, I have to really fall in love with the writing in order to connect with a book and so I am particularly drawn to beautifully crafted stories with a strong emotional hook. Some of my recent favourites include Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus, Someone Else's Shoes by Jojo Moyes and Wait for Me by Santa Montefiore. I would love to find a novel with the unforgettable plot and depth of character of Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. I also love compulsive thriller, mystery and suspense stories that continue to challenge the genre, such as The Only Suspect by Louise Candlish and The Last Party by Clare Mackintosh, both of which are wonderfully clever and twisty.
