Avant-garde Poetry &Prose

What other current publications (or publishers) do you admire most?

The Alipore Post
Muse India
Rattle
Ink, Sweat and Tears

If you publish writing, who are your favorite writers? If you publish art, who are your favorite artists?

Kushal Poddar
Ananya Chatterjee

What sets your publication apart from others that publish similar material?

Our thrust is on avant-garde where the writers imagine against the grain.

What is the best advice you can give people who are considering submitting work to your publication?

First read our About page and try to think beyond the usual.

What do submitters most often get wrong about your submissions process?

Our submission process require the submitters to answer one of the three questions that we ask about our journal. Those who do not go through our journal often get the answer wrong.

How much do you want to know about the person submitting to you?

Nothing much. We don't publish author bios.

If you publish writing, how much of a piece do you read before making the decision to reject it?

There is a proper review process where the team of reviewers give their opinion on the pieces allotted to them. If the piece is rejected by one reviewer but the editor likes it, it may go for another round of review.

What is a day in the life of an editor like for you?

As EIC I am more like a manager cum overseer who definitely has more knowledge and control of the work been done by reviewers and others. Approaching the day of release of an issue becomes quite hectic at times.

How much do you edit an accepted piece prior to publication?

Not much. We want perfect pieces.

Do you nominate work you've published for any national or international awards?

Yes.
