Lit about the digital age

There's so many great indie magazines and presses, it's hard to choose! I admire every publisher who is doing the work to support writers and artists. Split Lip Magazine publishes incredible work and supports their writers in multiple ways. Pithead Chapel publishes gutsy, haunting pieces and they're always free to submit to. Presses like rinky dink press work hard to make accessible, pocket-sized literature.

Our publishing style isn't necessarily traditional. We're not all about curation, though we still proudly feature a curated lineup of poets, writers, and artists.
We also publish issues sloppy style, meaning the first X amount of submitters get published. While there's nothing wrong with curation, we also believe that it doesn't have to be the only way. We treat a call for these kinds of issues as an invitation to collaborate with each other. It's a lot of fun.

Even though we call ourselves MEMEZINE, your work does not have to be about a meme. We're more about examining aspects of life in the digital landscape. Read some of the incredible stuff we publish to get a sense of what we're about!

This is a tough question because we're not picky about a cover letter or a bio. We love learning more about you, of course, but we understand that cover letters and bios can be daunting. We're chill over here.

I read every single piece to the end, sometimes multiple times.
That being said, I usually have an idea whether or not it's a strong fit for our publication on the first read.

If we're reading for our curated lineup, we ask these questions of a piece:
1. Does it fucking slap?
2. Does it feel finished?
3. Is it different from what we've published before?

I view edits as a collaborative process (if edits are needed at all). There are occasionally small grammar edits or formatting edits that need to be made, and authors are sent proofs for approval before publication. If I have a question about a piece we want to publish, I'll ask. For the most part, our edits are basic proofreading.

We're a new press, so we were excited to finally get to nominate work. So far, we've nominated work from our sloppy-style issues and curated features for Sundress Publications' Best of the Net!
