BlazeVOX [books] presents innovative fictions and wide ranging fields of contemporary poetry. Our books push at the frontiers of what is possible with our innovative poetry, fiction and select non-fiction and literary criticism. Our fundamental mission is to disseminate poetry, through print and digital media, both within academic spheres and to society at large.
We seek to publish the innovative works of the greatest minds writing poetry today, from the most respected senior poets to extraordinarily promising young writers. We select for publication only the highest quality of writing on all levels regardless of commercial viability. Our outlets of publication strive to enrich cultural and intellectual life, and foster regional pride and accomplishments.
BlazeVOX [books] consciously acquires a collection of titles providing focus, continuity, and a basis for the development of future publications. Through the publication of works of significance, BlazeVOX [books] is committed to the dissemination of knowledge.

Work that doesn't suck.

Mostly authors send work to us that does not suit our journal or the work is not ready for publication. In either case, do have a look at what we publish and that will be the best determining factor. We have cultivated an audience that reads a specific form of literature and we do our best to accommodate that.

A cover letter is nice, but not necessary. A brief bio is acceptable for us to know who the author is, how they come to writing and how they know about BlazeVOX. But then again, just a good poem or fiction piece is always the best way of introduction.

We read all of the work before making any decision. Sometimes it is easier to make this decission early on in the reading, but we do look at the work as one might hope we would. We are human too :-)

We read the submitted pieces and if it fits into what we are making for our journal, then we accept it and publish it.

Read submissions to the journal, chapbooks and full manuscripts. Sort them into good, bad and other piles.
Answer emails to authors and other stakeholders in the press.
Deal with nice people who have written fine works of poetry.
Write poetry if there is time.
Do accounting in QuickBooks to manage the press.
Find forms of fundraising and do our best to keep the press alive.
