Describe what you publish in 25 characters or less.

Six sentence prose

What other current publications (or publishers) do you admire most?

McSweeney's

If you publish writing, who are your favorite writers? If you publish art, who are your favorite artists?

Lydia Davis, Rick Moody

What sets your publication apart from others that publish similar material?

Six Sentences features a social network, innovative writing contests with cash prizes (and no entry fees), free giveaways, new print anthologies every month, and 4 seasonal short film festivals based on the writers' work (also with cash prizes). The site has been named for 2 consecutive years by Writer's Digest Magazine as one of the "101 Best Websites for Writers." (2009-2010)

What is the best advice you can give people who are considering submitting work to your publication?

Write to impress. The 6S audience demands it.

Describe the ideal submission.

Something you're proud of.

What do submitters most often get wrong about your submissions process?

Sending a piece which is more or less than six sentences.

How much do you want to know about the person submitting to you?

Please always include a short bio of yourself.

If you publish writing, how much of a piece do you read before making the decision to reject it?

Every single word of every single submission is read and carefully considered for publication.

What additional evaluations, if any, does a piece go through before it is accepted?

We're looking for work with "six appeal." :)

What is a day in the life of an editor like for you?

As the Editor-in-Chief at Six Sentences, I'm constantly on the lookout for quality pieces to add to the site. I read three times each day - 6am, 12noon and 10pm - for an hour at a time, and select the finest submissions for the website and print anthologies.
