What sets your publication apart from others that publish similar material?

We only publish high-quality fiction or poetry that breaks new ground.

What is the best advice you can give people who are considering submitting work to your publication?

Read the latest issues of the FictionWeek Literary Review. Be aware that the FictionWeek Literary Review is produced by the all-volunteer group, and that we do not charge any fees.

Describe the ideal submission.

Fiction or poetry that breaks new ground, and is therefore memorable.

What do submitters most often get wrong about your submissions process?

They forget to attach a file.

How much do you want to know about the person submitting to you?

Education, writing history, personal history.

If you publish writing, how much of a piece do you read before making the decision to reject it?

The submissions committee reads every submission.

What additional evaluations, if any, does a piece go through before it is accepted?

A submissions committee.

What is a day in the life of an editor like for you?

In addition to producing the FictionWeek Literary Review, I read every submission as soon as it is received.

How much do you edit an accepted piece prior to publication?

We do not edit submissions, but once a submission is accepted for publication, we give the author a chance to review and edit the piece as it will appear online.

Do you nominate work you've published for any national or international awards?

Ploughshares.
