There are so many brilliant and beautiful publications. I'm particularly drawn to those with diverse, curious, wondrous offerings. Some that quickly come to mind include Emergence Magazine, Aeon, Geez, Thrush, The Hopper, Sheila-Na-Gig, Kosmos, About Place Journal, Deep Times, Tinderbox, Gyroscope Review, MacGuffin, Thimble, Waging Nonviolence, Presence, and Gratefulness.

Our tastes are broad and eclectic.

We publish beautiful, experience-infused writing exemplifying respect for the diversity of and interconnection between the world’s faith traditions.

Send us your best writing and recognize we may insist on some gentle editing.
Do not send us work imploring readers to believe what you believe.

Clear, meaningful, thought-provoking, embodied, and without judgement.

Proselytizing, prescribing, or otherwise promoting a particular spiritual outlook.

We enjoy cover letters, but only ask for a short bio and headshot. A list of publication credits isn't necessary.

I read every piece.

I give preference to pieces that are previously unpublished, accepting only the rare reprint. I consider if we've recently accepted or published something very similar. I often ask for minor edits. I've also asked if a writer would consider offering us a personal essay rather than a poem, with wonderful results.

I wait for a pause in my lively and varied work life so I can approach submissions from a place of openness. Sometimes that means I read subs at 5 am with a puppy on my lap, sometimes it means I read subs in the evening with a cup of tea. When I'm not entirely sure about a piece, I go back to it a few days later to be sure I've given it fair consideration before accepting/rejecting it.

I edit around a third of the work we publish. I collaborate with writers and leave final approval to them.
