We admire a lot of the classic traditional publishing houses that work closely with their authors and that publish in a variety of genres. Many of these have long since been acquired by the large publishing houses, but it is a model that our publishing house adheres to.

Histria Books publishes in a broad range of categories, rather than just one particular niche. Our strong international focus helps to set us apart. We have authors from every inhabited continent, and our books are distributed worldwide.

To look over our website and familiarize themselves with the books that we publish. Someone who is familiar with our publications and can express how their work fits into our overall publishing program is more likely to have success than someone just blindly submitting manuscripts to random publishers. It is also important that authors carefully review the submissions guidelines on our website as this ensures that the review process will proceed smoothly.

The ideal submission is one that fits well with our existing publishing program and that shows that the author is familiar with our books (perhaps has even read some of them).

We have a two-step process. First, an initial review by our editors to determine if a book should be recommended for review by our editorial board. If a manuscript is chosen for a board review, we require exclusivity during the review as there is a high chance of acceptance if it reaches that stage. It is a rigorous, costly, and time-consuming process. Prospective authors sometimes do not understand all that is involved.

During the initial phase of our review, we are mainly concerned with the work itself. If the book reaches the second phase, our editorial board review, we are very interested in knowing about previous publications, author bio, marketing plans, etc.

During our initial review, we only read a couple of chapters. If a book reaches our editorial board, then the entire manuscript or a substantial portion of it is read to make a determination.

If a book reaches our editorial board for review, the manuscript is carefully reviewed, along with the auithor bio and marketing plans for the book.

We spend a lot of time reading, reviewing, and writing reports for our editorial board. We also have regular staff meetings to discuss current and future projects.

The amount of editing necessary before sending a book to publication varies from project to project. In our publishing house, it is a collaborative effort between the editor and the author. The author is expected to approve the final manuscript before it goes to print.

We nominate our titles for various award programs both nationally and internationally, and our books have won several prestigious awards. Decisions on award nominations are made by our editorial board, and we also accept input from our authors. We also submit books to award programs on behalf of our authors.
